Description
Life is full of lofty goals. Everyone has them. I am sure you are working hard to achieve one right now.
I like to try to keep things simple. Setting myself up for failure has never been all that appealing. That being said, my goals for today do seem a little out of left field. Even for me.
1) Find a way to reconnect with my mate.
2) Find a way to punish the one that broke the bond (i.e. kill the jerk).
3) Learn how to potty train a puppy and at the same time get him to stop catching the curtains on fire.
4) Get someone to tell me the missing link to my genome.
And of course...
5) Find a way to bring down the Grand Collective.
I don't think any of them can be done overnight, especially the one about the puppy. I mean that little rascal is something straight from hell. Literally.
This is book three in the Nyx Slaughter series. It is a companion book to the second book and picks up right where the second book left off.

Excerpt
To imagine, I thought today was going to be a good day. Technically, for all I know a month could have passed, but for me it is all the same day. The same horrible day that I really wish was over.
Without opening my eyes, because I am horrified to see what is going on now, I take stock of my situation. My arms are no longer strapped against my sides, definitely a good thing. I am also no longer on a cold, hard table. It feels like I am on a bed. A nice bed and the sheets have a decent thread count.
Even better, I have clothes on.
Opening up my sniffer, I smell Alex, Jonas, Jake, and Smitty nearby. Sebastian is noticeably missing, which is too bad because he is the person I need most right now.
Behind all the lingering pain I feel, hunger is surfacing and I am not talking about an order of steak with bacon on the side. I need his blood and I need it soon.
“He is on his way back,” I hear Alex say from near my head. “He had a prisoner to secure and you know what a perfectionist he is.” If they are securing someone, I am surprised Alex isn’t there to supervise as well. The two of them are pretty particular about that type of thing.
I slowly open my eyes to see him kneeling beside the bed, my bed in fact. I should have known. Nothing feels as good as my own bed.

Review

By Lynda Dickson
The story takes place a day after the events in Book 2, Night Marks, continuing straight on from the previous book. We find out how Nyx got rescued and that the bond between Nyx and Sebastian has been severed. Nyx must find a way to restore it, with a little help from an unlikely source.
A new character is introduced in the form of Clyde, a Hell Hound who is a gift to Nyx from Ben. It seems an innocent enough gesture, but what are Ben's hidden motives?
Phee makes another appearance, as does Sam, a Collective agent who was captured in the previous book. Nyx spends time training both of them and sparks fly in more ways than one.
Nyx takes on a new case involving Kent Newhouse, the sheriff of Ghost Town, a town you can't find unless you really need to. In other words, a safe haven in which to hide from the Collective. This case involves solving a series of bizarre murders taking place in Ghost Town. We meet Alan there and learn a little more about Nyx's heritage. It looks like there's more to our girl than just vampires and werewolves.
This is my favorite book in the series so far, with a fascinatingly creepy mystery to solve and the introduction of the adorable Clyde, who brings out a whole new side of Nyx. Can't wait for the next installment, Night Howls.

From the Author
I love books. Until recently, I kept to just reading them, but ideas for characters and scenes took control of my mind and made me have to get those ideas down. I started with a series I called Avery Clavens. I enjoyed the world I created there, but it was really still the world we all live in so I decided to move on to something just a little bit different.
In my Nyx Slaughter series, the real world is still out there, but my characters have their own little corner to call their own. I love that it is a bit more fantasy based and I am able to make more things up as I go. I can see at least three more books coming from that world with the possibility of having some different characters' points of view.
This whole writing thing is a hobby for me. I sit down on the weeknights and weekends and just float over to my other worlds for a while. Other hobbies of mine include: drawing, baking, arts and crafts, motorcycles, hockey, and archery. I like to think I have eclectic tastes where my hobbies are concerned. I love to laugh and try to make myself smile at least once a day. With the crazy thoughts going on in my head that usually isn't hard.
