Nora’s impending college graduation is a triumph over the dark incident in her past that changed her life and stopped her best friend’s. Balancing school, work and her demented admirer at the diner is tough. All she has is six more months, but it similar to walking a tightrope blindfolded.
Life-like dreams pull her into the 19th century world of Clayton. A man who declares he’s her soul mate. Even though, she’s decided against romance, the young witch finds herself drawn to the Irish healer, even hearing his voice in her head.
This would make most people question their sanity. Nora needs to find out if Clayton is real and if she’s crossing over into another world in her sleep. If she is, will she end up stuck in the past? Can magick bring them together?
Brandon, the night cook, came in around seven to hang out and eat before his shift. The bald-headed cook was a former Marine, sporting several patriotic tattoos. Nora imagined if someone made the mistake of sneaking in the back door when Brandon was working, he’d leave quickly once he saw the muscle-bound man.
Business had slowed enough that after she fixed him food, she left the kitchen to talk to him. Oddly, she felt at ease with the intimidating man. There was no aura of evil around him.
“Thanks for the omelet.” Brandon delivered the praise after his first bite. “You have a nice light hand with the eggs. Know when to fold before it browns too much.”
Her face flushed a little. People didn’t normally compliment her cooking. They only griped when they thought it wasn’t fast enough. “Thanks. It’s just eggs, ya know.”
He shoveled in another mouthful, chewed then swallowed before speaking. “Yeah, but you’d be surprised how the average person can’t make a decent egg. Either they break the yolk or end up burning it.”
Nora found herself smiling at his simple praise. In another man, she might have thought he was flirting with her, but this was Brandon. She felt she’d known him forever, as opposed to just the last three years. “I think you’re just saying it to make me feel good.”
He grinned. The simple gesture made him look younger. How old was he? Maybe in his thirties, hard to know with his shaved head.
He’s not for you.
Blinking, Nora looked around to see if anyone else had entered the diner. Nope, it was still just her, Brandon, and Bonnie. That meant the voice had been in her head.

Interview With the Author
Hi Rayna, thanks for joining me today to discuss your new book, Pagan Eyes: Revelation.
For what age group do you recommend your book?
Twelve and up, many of the issues are pertinent to both teens and adults.
What sparked the idea for this book?
Many books already out have negative, even cartoonish portrayals of witches. I have friends who are witches and knowing that I’m a writer, asked if I couldn’t pen a more realistic view.
Which comes first? The character's story or the idea for the novel?
For me, it was the idea for the Pagan Eyes series, and then the characters started showing up.
What was the hardest part to write in this book?
It is a series, so I had to make the timeline work with book one and remember book two has to set up book three too.
How do you hope this book affects its readers?
I’d love readers to be entertained while finding their personal courage, as Nora did, to live their dreams.
How long did it take you to write this book?
It took three months to write it and another three months to edit.
What is your writing routine?
It depends on the day and if I am going into my day job. I am a morning writer.
How did you get your book published?
I should thank Liliana Hart for giving me the push I needed. Something she said in a conference I attended gave me the push to publish this series, which had only been up idea.
What advice do you have for someone who would like to become a published writer?
Write every day even if it is only what you see out the window. We learn from doing things as opposed to watching videos about it. It also develops a habit of writing every day. People asked Mark Twain why he was such a successful writer. He pointed out he had friends who were more talented than he was, but they gave up too easy. Don’t give up. Persevere.
What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Nature refreshes my writing spirit. I not only like being in nature, but I attempt to create as much beauty as possible through gardening and landscaping.
What does your family think of your writing?
I am fortunate that my husband helps a great deal with the website and promotions. My son diligently reads my books, while my daughter helps with promotions.
Please tell us a bit about your childhood.
I was a country girl. My playmates were the dogs, cows, horses and chickens on our farm. My family had a television, but it remained in the closet. This might explained why I learned to read at the age of four.
Did you like reading when you were a child?
I loved to read, but found children’s books a bit bland. I started making up my own endings at a young age.
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
It was in grade school, when I started writing new endings for our reading book stories. My endings, which often included spies, helicopters, ghosts and tigers, were more fun than the traditional ones. I enjoyed writing and sharing the endings. This may have been an early form of fan fiction.
Did your childhood experiences influence your writing?
I think so. I have a love of animals and a respect for a nature that is obvious in my narrative.
Which writers have influenced you the most?
I’m a fan of J. R. R. Tolkien, J. K. Rowling, and Mel Massey. In school, I remember reading To Kill a Mockingbird. The story had a profound effect on me because of the flawed characters. Their flaws often made them more heroic in some ways.
Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Every now and then, I get an email. Their words humble me and sometimes bring a tear to my eye. Revelation has gone out as an early read for some. It has traveled farther than I have. J Early readers call it is a beautiful, redemptive, healing story about the power of love in all forms.
Sometimes readers suggest a storyline for a minor characters, I listen because that’s how the entire series started.
What can we look forward to from you in the future?
Declaration, the third book in the series, should be out in July. Affirmation is the fourth book in the series in late September 2014.
Fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to stop by today. Best of luck with your future projects.
About the Author
Rayna Noire is an author and a historian. The desire to uncover the truth behind the original fear of witches led her to the surprising discovery that people believed in magick in some form up to 150 years ago. A world that believed the impossible could happen and often did must have been amazing. With this in mind, Ms. Noire taps into this dimension, shapes it into stories about Pagan families who really aren't that different from most people. They do go on the occasional time travel adventures and magick happens.
