Excerpt
And suddenly, a dreaded sound,
As something wicked stomped the ground.
A gruesome ogre, wide and tall,
And both heads said, “I’m King of all!”

Now looking round, Quinn was alone.
How could she stop it on her own?
But fairies always locked their doors
When ogres came to settle scores.

My Review

By Lynda Dickson
Quinn the fairy wishes to be crowned Fairy Queen, so she starts making preparations: she makes a scepter, a cape, and a royal throne; she places a crown on her head and wears her mother's dress. Then, through reading her books, she discovers every queen needs a king to rescue her. So, she sets off to find one. But does she really need a king to save the day? Follow Quinn's adventure and find out if wishes really do come true.
Little children will find Quinn to be a very likable heroine, and they will have fun with the references to other fairy tales as Quinn sets off to find her king. The author's rhyming verses are delightful as usual. The illustrations by Beth Trott are adorable and rich in detail; I'm sure the kids will find something new every time they read this book. The author and illustrator both reinforce the story's message by telling us about their own childhood dreams. The book includes a fun counting activity and information about some famous real-life queens.
Great fun, especially for your little princess.
