Excerpts
Praise for the Book
"Rachel's Day In The Garden was a joyful book laced with spring flowers, butterflies, and a beautiful atmosphere. [...] If readers are unfamiliar with yoga, they can easily figure it out with the picture pose on each page. This is the second story I've reviewed from Giselle Shardlow. She is a great author and I look forward to reading more from her." ~ Heart of a Philanthropist "Kim"
"Such a fun concept! Rachel’s Day in the Garden teaches colors and yoga through a little girl’s exploration of a garden with her dog." ~ Carolyn Clarke
"This was a great book for kids ages 3-8. Both my children (ages 5 and 7) loved this book and wanted to read it over and over. The book is highly interactive to allow the kids to test out the different poses, easily depicting them as the story goes along. The images are vivid and easy to translate. My kids cannot wait for more from this author!" ~ Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock
"Rachel's Day in the Garden is short and sweet, a perfect length to keep the attention of young children. Parents can read the story along with their child, gradually switching roles as they practice yoga." ~ Kevin Gerard
"This book has really opened the door for us to be more active as a family. I have found that the more active we are together, the better we work together and the less fits are thrown. I love the tools that this book has given me to be a better mother to my children. So thanks Giselle. I didn't know books like this existed, but you've opened my eyes to a new genre of fun books I can't wait to get my hands on and share with my eager children. :)" ~ Beth Ann
My Review
By Lynda Dickson
Join Rachel as she plays in her garden with her dog, Sammy, on a typical spring day. You will learns about the different colors as they relate to nature. Rachel also demonstrates ten yoga poses, each with a corresponding keyword in the text (e.g., sun, rain, tree, etc.). The poses are summarized at the end of the book. There is also a Parent-Teacher Guide to help you get the most out of sharing this story with young children.
The collage-like illustrations by Hazel Quintanilla are absolutely breathtaking. You'll have to go back over the book just to admire them. This is a beautiful and educational book, perfect for spending a bit of quality time with the little ones and to encourage them to get active.
