(The Secret Diamond Sisters Book 1)

Description
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas … but that doesn’t matter when you live there.
Savannah. Courtney. Peyton.
The three sisters grew up not knowing their father and not quite catching a break. But it looks like their luck is about to change when they find out the secret identity of their long-lost dad - a billionaire Las Vegas hotel owner who wants them to come live in a gorgeous penthouse hotel suite.
Suddenly the Strip's most exclusive clubs are all-access, and with an unlimited credit card each, it should be easier than ever to fit right in. But in a town full of secrets and illusion, fitting in is nothing compared to finding out the truth about their past.

Peyton Diamond
“Which lovely Diamond sister are you?” he asked, his lips close to her ear.
“How do you know I’m one of the Diamond sisters?” She leaned back and looked up at him, trying to sound mysterious. Word sure did travel fast around here.
“Lucky guess.” He ran his thumb down her back, and she shivered at his touch. “Actually, I saw you walk in with Adrian earlier. Sort of gave it away.”
“Oh,” she said, although she was happy he’d noticed her. “I’m Peyton.”
“Peyton,” he repeated. “Pretty name. I like it.”
“Thanks.” She had never had anyone tell her that before. “And you are…”
“Oliver,” he answered with a haughtiness that made her think he assumed most people already knew his name. “Oliver Prescott.”
“Nice to meet you, Oliver,” she said, smiling seductively up at him—the same look she’d given Jackson earlier. But unlike with Jackson, it made Oliver move closer to her. The music changed to a remix of a popular song, and she wound her arms tighter around him. “Your girlfriend didn’t look happy that you left her to dance with me.”
“Girlfriend?” Oliver laughed. “Madison’s just a friend.”
“Good.” Peyton had dated many guys, but the ones with girlfriends were out of the question. She refused to risk getting hurt, or make an enemy in the wrong place.
“Do I seem like the type of guy who would tell my girlfriend to disappear while I danced with another girl?” He looked amused, but Peyton believed he was serious.
“Going off the few minutes I’ve known you…?” She quirked an eyebrow. “It never hurts to check. But I believe you.”
“And you would trust me that easily?”
“Mainly because Madison doesn’t look like the sort of girl who would allow a boyfriend of hers to do that,” Peyton said.
“You sure got that right.” He trailed a finger down her arm, like he was taking in every inch of her. Peyton reveled in his touch. The back of his neck was moist with sweat, and she ran her fingers through his hair, enjoying the silkiness of it.
“Do you live in the hotel, too?” she asked.
“Not at the Diamond,” he replied. “I live across the street at the Gates. My father owns it, along with a few other hotels on the Strip.”
“Does that mean your family is in competition with mine?”
“Not in competition, he said, pulling her closer. “But our father’s businesses aren’t important right now.”
“No,” Peyton breathed. “They’re not.”
His lips were on hers a second later.

Excerpt
Savannah Diamond
Savannah Diamond wanted her first day at her new school to be perfect, so she'd woken up extra early to get ready. But her nerves had her so on edge that she couldn't even sing into her hairbrush along with her favorite songs, pretending she was a pop star performing a show. Peyton used to get so mad at her for it every morning, since she, Courtney and Savannah shared a room, and Savannah woke up earlier than Peyton because she needed more time to get ready. Having a room to herself was the best.
If this were her first day of her sophomore year at Fairfield High, she'd have thrown on jean shorts, a pastel tank and sparkly summer flats. But The Goodman School was a fancy private school in Vegas, and since she and her sisters had found out last summer that billionaire casino owner Adrian Diamond was their father, and had moved into the penthouse next to his in The Diamond Residences, Savannah was supposed to be a sophisticated hotel heiress - not a girl who'd grown up in a poor neighborhood in a small town. She needed an outfit to fit the part. And since the only dress-code rules at The Goodman School were no ripped jeans and no belly buttons showing, she had plenty of options.
She settled on a metallic spaghetti-strap top by Young Fabulous & Broke, paired with a black flair miniskirt and strappy Jimmy Choo heels. She curled her hair to give it volume, put on a Swarovski crystal headband and went all out with makeup - deep purples and silvers from her Urban Decay Vice palette, winged black eyeliner with liquid gold sparkles, extra coats of mascara and shimmery lip gloss. As she walked to her jewelry box to decide what to match with the outfit, someone knocked at her door.
"Savannah?" Her sister Courtney peeked her head into the room. "Breakfast is here, and Adrian and Rebecca are on their way. Are you almost ready?"
"Are these earrings too much with the bracelets?" Savannah motioned to her dangly crystal earrings and Alex and Ani bangles.
Courtney examined Savannah's outfit. "I don't want you taking this the wrong way, but isn't it a bit much for school?"
Savannah pulled at her top and frowned. "The personal shopper from Saks said the outfit was perfect on me."
"It does look great on you." Courtney bit her lower lip. "But it seems better suited for a cocktail party or other nighttime event. Not for school."
"I shouldn't have bothered asking." She played with her charm bracelets, shuffling her feet as she scrutinized the outfit in her full-length mirror. It was flashy. But she couldn't take fashion advice from Courtney, who had on jeans, flip-flops, a sky-blue T-shirt and practically no makeup. The only jewelry she wore was a practical watch and that boring old key necklace Grandma had given her for her birthday last year - an heirloom from their great-great-grandmother. "Sure, it would have been too much for Fairfield High, but this is private school in Las Vegas. The first day is when everyone gets most dressed up, so I want to be ready."

Praise for the Book
"I loved this book. The Diamond sisters' world is so much fun and so full of drama, it's the perfect escape after a long school day or work day. It is the second installment of the Secret Diamond Sisters' story. You really should read book one before you read this book, but if you don't, the author does a good job bringing new readers up to speed. Either way, you are going to LOVE this book!" ~ Jacqueline
"If you liked The Secret Diamond Sisters, get ready. Diamonds in the Rough takes things to whole new level. More drama, more secrets and lies, and more camaraderie." ~ AboutToRead

Description
Sixteen-year-old Andi is tired of being a second-class sibling to perfect sister Laina. The only thing Andi's sure she has going for her is her awesome hair. And even that is eclipsed by Laina's perfect everything else.
When Andi's crush asks her to fix him up with Laina, Andi decides enough is enough, and devises a twelve-step program to wrangle the spotlight away from Laina and get the guy.
Step 1: Admit she's powerless to change her perfect sister, and accept that her life really, really sucks.
Step 4: Make a list of her good qualities. She MUST have more than just great hair, right?
Step 7: Demand attention for more than just the way she screws things up.
When a stolen kiss from her crush ends in disaster, Andi realizes that her twelve-step program isn't working. Her prince isn't as charming as she'd hoped, and the spotlight she's been trying to steal isn't the one she wants.
As Laina's flawless façade begins to crumble, the sisters work together to find a spotlight big enough for both to shine.

Review
Andrea Anderson (Andi) has to compete with her perfect sister Laina not only for her parents' attention, but for the affections of Jarod, who also happens to be Laina's best friend. So Andi sets in motion a twelve step plan to get her life back on track. When she finds out that Laina has a crush on Shane, who's going out with Laina's ex-best friend Rachel, Andi hatches a plan to set Laina up with him so that she can have Jarod for herself.
Along the way, Andi discovers that Laina is not as perfect as she thought; she's got problems of her own. What's with the sabotaging behavior of Laina's so-called best friend Kendra? And what dark secret is Laina hiding from Andi? Andi also realizes that Laina's not the only one getting attention from boys; she herself has no shortage of admirers, especially the ever-present Dave. Even Jarod seems to be ambivalent about the two sisters. Who will he choose? And will he be too late? Maybe love is right under our noses the whole time; we just have to stop looking in the wrong direction.
Twelve Steps is a great clean read for teens. Even the swearing is cute, for example, "Oh. My. Gobstopper!" The story is fast-paced and written in a great natural style from the point-of-view of sixteen-year-old Andi. The real life action is cleverly mirrored in the stage production of Cinderella, starring Jarod as Prince Charming and Andi as one of the step-sisters. Andi's humor prevents her from becoming an unlikeable character, and, thankfully, her shallow and selfish attitude turns around and she finally starts thinking about others instead of just herself. In addition, the author subtly hints, through snippets of conversation, that all may not be as it seems, and that Andi's perceptions of reality may be clouded by her own emotions. This would make a great movie!

About the Author
As the second of eight children and the mother of four, Veronica Bartles is no stranger to the ups and downs of sibling relationships. (She was sandwiched between the gorgeous-and-insanely-popular older sister and the too-adorable-for-words younger sister.) She uses this insight to write stories about siblings who mostly love each other, even while they’re driving one another crazy.
When she isn’t writing or getting lost in the pages of her newest favorite book, Veronica enjoys knitting fabulous bags and jewelry out of recycled plastic bags and old VHS tapes, sky diving (though she hasn’t actually tried that yet), and inventing the world’s most delectable cookie recipes. Twelve Steps is Veronica Bartles' first novel.
