Excerpt

Praise for the Book
"Seussian shapes and creatures dominate this clever concept book about opposites - and friendship - by debut author/illustrator Helms. [...] The text, comprised of only thirty-five words, is as much a part of the imagery as the illustrations themselves ... all the words are simple enough that very beginning readers will be able to sound them out, and may have a victory of reading a book all on their own." ~ Kirkus Reviews
"Quirky, whimsical and colorful illustrations add real appeal [...] this upbeat, appealingly illustrated production is an ideal book for adults and preschoolers to enjoy together at home, in preschool, playgroups or during library storytimes." ~ Blue Ink Review
"A charming story with delightful, memorable images." ~ Foreword Clarion Review

My Review

By Lynda Dickson
Birdie is outside looking for his friends. Where can they be? Why do they seem to be hiding inside?
The simple text seamlessly blends into the colorful and creative hand-drawn illustrations, also by the author. With its message of inclusion, friendship, and belonging, this book is bound to appeal to readers both young and old. This is sure to become a favorite with your children, who will start to read it by themselves in no time.

"The Very Best You!" by Kathryn L. Novak

The Very Best You!
by Kathryn L. Novak

Read about Kathryn L. Novak's The Very Best You! You can also find out about Kathryn's other books, It Stinks to be Pink! (read my blog post) and EZ as 1-2-3: Come Learn About Bugs A-Z (read my blog post).

Description
This is an adorable children's rhyming picture book filled with positive affirmations for children ages 0-7. This book is perfect for beginner readers, and as a read aloud book for younger children.
Your children will have a great time reading fun rhymes with bright colorful illustrations while being encouraged and guided by the positive affirmations on each page.
It is never too early to encourage your children, boost their sense of self worth, and start them on the path towards a happier and more fulfilled life.
The Very Best You! is a children's rhyming picture book designed to:
  • Boost your children's self-esteem.
  • Help them reach their full potential.
  • Teach them to love themselves.
  • Motivate them to follow their dreams.
  • Encourage a happy and positive outlook.
This book will delight children with its funny rhymes and bright colorful illustrations. The Very Best You! was written specifically to teach children to love themselves, and to help each and every child reach their full potential.
Every page is fully illustrated and has a positive affirmation in each rhyme. These positive statements are designed to help your child appreciate how wonderful they are, boost their self-confidence, and encourage them to reach for the stars.
We all know that telling a child that they are worthless over and over again will impact their life negatively. Conversely, repeatedly telling them that they are smart, capable, and loved can also reprogram their thought patterns and change their belief system. A positive belief system translates to a better self-image, and a happier more productive life.

Positive Affirmations for Children
This is not the book trailer, but it is a lovely video by the author full of positive affirmation for children, along the lines of this book. Check out the author's website for details on how to download your FREE printables.

Excerpts

Review
The Very Best You! is an excellent book for young children full of underlying messages of positive affirmation, the difference between each of us and the uniqueness in us all. The lessons to be learnt by young children is masterfully achieved in a fun and visually stimulating way. The pictures are bright and the rhyming text flows very easily. Great job by Kathryn Novak in writing and illustrating this beautiful little book - my 4 year old and 6 year old loved it. I particularly like the theme of acceptance of others no matter how different. Highly recommend.
