Description
Lobo and his sidekick raven find a trail camera in their neck of the woods, and it attracts the attention of forest friends. Images captured have never been sillier or more candid. Just as their wild dispositions are exposed, the photo shoot comes to an unexpected end and they're all left wondering why. The reason may be obvious.

Excerpts

Praise for the Book
"Young children will easily relate to the meaning of 'selfies' and will connect with this whimsical picture book. In addition to the colorful illustrations, Ms. Murphy weaves an adorable 'tale' of what happens when nature meets technology. I loved her spattering of advanced vocabulary words, which were later explained in the Glossary at the end of the book. Challenge words always earn extra points with me!" ~ HopefulSerenity
"Our grandchildren have fun taking selfies, so the idea of Lovable and his gang of wild friends trying to figure out what a trail camera is, and how to use it, is a hoot! The animals' conversation in the dark is silly and fun! The colorful illustrations are adorable. Ms. Murphy scattered a few challenging vocabulary words throughout the story, but at the end of the book, she includes a short vocabulary list with definitions that help extend the reader's learning." ~ RL Thom
"Selfies in the Wild had me giggling to myself like a preschooler, and it is definitely a picture book that will put a smile on any child or adult reader's face!" ~ Bookworm Gang
"Selfies in the Wild is an adorable story which had me laughing out loud as I read the silly conversations between a fun group of forest friends who are intrigued by a trail camera they've found. In addition, the bright and colorful illustrations of the close-up shots of the characters looking into the trail cam also made me smile ear-to-ear." ~ Jill Cofsky
"What an adorable book! This one is my favorite so far. It’s simple and cute and although it is targeted for young readers, parents will enjoy reading it as well." ~ Dawn

My Review

By Lynda Dickson
Lovable Lobo and his friends find a trail camera, have a bit of fun with it, and teach us a few things along the way.
You and your little one will find out about colors (red and green), left and right, learn some new vocabulary (e.g., different meanings for the word "capture"), discover the camera and battery icons, and even be able to start up conversations on temperature, time, and date. Real-life nature photographs serve as a backdrop to computer-animated images, providing you with an opportunity to point out the different animals. The text itself is full of puns and humor, and there's even a glossary of difficult words at the end of the book. The author also shares some photos of wild animals taken using her own trail camera. And once you've finished with all of that, you'll have to go back through the book to find the fox (he only appears once)!
As you can see, there's a whole lot in this little book. You can even download the free activity kit to continue the fun.

She's in a position to use her unassuming powers in a never-ending battle for good and silliness while traveling to the deepest (sometimes dark) part of her imagination. She’s been a member of SCBWI since 2012. She lives in a wonder-filled forest, amongst the wildlife with her husband and other untamed animals. Praise for the Book
"Lobo’s Howliday is a wonderfully sweet and funny picture e-book featuring the lovable wolf pup, Lobo. The book features beautiful depictions of the Arctic landscape; an amusing story of an unusual predicament Santa finds himself in; and an underlying theme of friendship as Lobo is helped along the way by some of the Arctic’s residents. I highly recommend this wonderful holiday-themed book…" ~ Renee @ Mother Daughter Book Reviews
"What could be more exciting than celebrating Christmas with an adorable wolf pup (Lobo) and his friends? Who can resist the rainbow sky, trees, and houses? I couldn’t!" ~ 5 Star Review, Mrs. D., Goodreads
"Kids will love Lobo’s Howliday and why not. This outing is best yet. The illustrations explode with color and seem to pop off the screen (or paper). When I first saw this, I thought it was some new 3-D trick with Photoshop. With each edition of Loveable Lobo, Ms. Murphy expertise improves. The stories get better, the illustrations get better, and the writing gets better." ~ Sue @ Kid Lit Reviews

My Review

By Lynda Dickson
Lovable Lobo gets a visit from Arty the Arctic mouse, who delivers a plea for help from Santa himself! How can Lobo refuse? He sets off to the North Pole accompanied by his trusty friend Roxy the Raven. Along the way, they encounter a number of new friends who help them on their journey: an Arctic fox, a polar bear, an Arctic wolf, and an Arctic hare. When Lobo finally gets to meet Santa, the lovable wolf pup finds he is the only one who can help Santa out of very modern predicament. How will Lobo help Santa save Christmas? You'll just have to read this book to find out!
This is an imaginative Christmas story to which today's children will be able to relate. The message of friendship and selflessness is both timely and timeless. But the true stars of this book are the illustrations, which are perfectly magical. Who would have thought that so much snow could translate so beautifully to the page?
A great alternative to the classic Christmas tales.

Praise for the Book
"Who knew geography and learning about animals could be this much fun? Lobo Goes to the Galapagos is my new favorite children’s book and is highly recommended. " ~ Jack Magnus, Readers’ Favorite
"While Ms. Murphy’s uniquely whimsical and vibrant illustrative style is perfectly suited for the wild, tropical feel of this colorful book, and easily captures young readers’ attention, there is also a subtle, quiet beauty to the storyline’s overarching themes of friendship, trust, perseverance, and goodwill. Lobo’s tenacious and giving spirit are delightfully captured in this fifth installment of puppy-fueled fun. In fact, it’s sincerely so easy to fall in love with 'Lovable' Lobo that I’d happily follow this well-meaning, big-hearted, wolf pup to the very ends of the earth!" ~ 5 Star Review, Indie Author Girl, Amazon
"What an adorable story! I read this to my nephew and he couldn’t stop giggling at the silliness of Roxy as well as Lobo’s cute friends Bobby, Sunny, Coconut and Sandra. The author was very clever in portraying a tale of friendship, adventure and excitement that is sure to enthuse young minds around the world." ~ 5 Star Review, Gina D., Amazon

My Review
Lobo and his friend Roxy the raven find Bobby the blue-footed booby, who has injured his wing, and they promise to help him get home. Along the way, they meet Sunny the seagull and Coconut the crab. When they encounter a certain scary animal, Lobo realizes he must overcome his fear if he wants to help his new friend return to his home.
The story is simple and entertaining, and the illustrations are bright and colorful, appearing almost three-dimensional. The author does a great job capturing Roxy's voice; Roxy's repetition certainly brings to mind the cawing of a raven. We are given a quick geography lesson with the map of the Galapagos at the end of the book, but it is not put into context by showing its position on the world map. I wish the author had continued Lobo's adventures on the island and introduced us to some more animals that can be found there.
This is a cute story about friendship and trust, but I think it could have been a whole lot more.
