About the Author

Lucinda Weeks continues writing in her unique style of Hodge Podge picture books. She has combined fiverr illustrations with stock photos in a new and ingenious way. She is hoping the concept of Hodge Podge picture books catches on with prospective new children’s authors on a budget. She hopes that no prospective authors will be held back from realizing their dreams of becoming a children’s picture book author due to lack of finances.

Lucinda Weeks is also the author of the Women Who Met Jesus book series. This exciting series is a fictionalized account of women from the New Testament whose lives were changed when they encountered Jesus. Lucinda has just released the third title in this series, Mary’s Christmas Story. This beautiful story is a fictional account of Mary the mother of Jesus told according to Protestant belief. The big day had finally arrived and Mom and dad couldn’t be happier! They had waited for this day for a long, long time. It was hard to believe that the big day was really here. Today was the day the new baby would be born. They were anxious to find out if the new baby would be a boy or a girl. They knew they had to get to the hospital fast but… 

About the Author

From the time Lucinda Weeks' youngest grand daughter was born, Saint Joseph, Missouri, author dreamed of creating a children’s picture book series for and about her granddaughter Aaliyah P. There was only one thing that stood in her way of realizing that dream, money. Lucinda Weeks contacted several children’s book illustrators and discovered that most charged $100 per page on up. In addition, many illustrators charged an additional $800 or more to format the pages and turn them into a book. Lucinda Weeks, an aspiring new indie author simply didn’t have the budget. Lucinda was determined not to let finances get in the way of realizing her dream. Lucinda Weeks discovered that she could hire illustrators on one of her favorite websites, fiverr, for as little as $5 per illustration. Still this cost added up quickly as Lucinda knew that an average children’s book consisted of a minimum of 24 color illustrations. Lucinda also discovered that she could save even more money by utilizing stock photo illustrations available for commercial use on many websites for even less. Lucinda Also discovered that some websites offered free stock images.

When Lucinda put all the illustrations together, the result was a hodge podge of a picture book. Lucinda discovered that this was a new concept in children’s picture books and that what she had created was a new sub-genre of picture books she is calling Hodge Podge Picture Books.

Lucinda named her new book series The Little Adventures of Aaliyah P. The first book, Aaliyah P. is Born!, commemorates the birth of her granddaughter. This adorable and hilarious new book includes 8 coloring book pages at the back of the book that readers can share with their friends. A special thank-you to the caring and supportive staff at the maternity ward of the Mosaic Life Care Center is also included, at the end of the book. 

Lucinda is also the author of the Women Who Met Jesus series for adults.
