Description
The story within Ancient Script of Lovecontu contains words of
caresses around
as a cocoon of soft cashmere
accompanied by sweet aroma
allures to intimate nearness
remains a velvet kiss
Multiple poems designed to connect to form a story like a heart’s breath.

Excerpts
“...Oh, actually, that’s how I’m feeling...
A breeze, melodic in pace…”
“...Captivated, she draws nearer
Closer to...than she’s ever gone before…”
“...Water leaked from my eyes…”
“...And begins to sing…”

My Review
I received this book in return for an honest review.

In Ancient Script of Lovecontu, the author weaves four exquisite poems into one. We are treated to rhythmical phrases that evoke each of the five senses, leading us to experience every sight, touch, sound, taste, and smell. The poems center on the themes of loneliness and the need to belong and feel wanted. All presented in the author’s own voice that feels like a warm caress.
Kaitlynzq, “thank you for being you.”

About the Author
Kaitlynzq
My fictional stories are written from the inside view
of a character’s interior heart-that
beautiful, vulnerable, intimate space
feelings, desires, needs, dreams
a blend of
delicate feather ripples of heart waves
needs, feelings, dreams, desires
quiet, gentle heart strings
tender, continuous
soft, vulnerable air mist
circles, weaves to caress
a sonic sea of heart’s breath
Woven into audio books that are recorded in my voice with a medley of music as a heart’s wave into downloadable mp3 files; audio plays adapted from the audio books, and layered into pdf files like a heart’s song; audio poems that are multiple poems designed to connect to form a story as a heart’s breath; and audio sets that are sets of these interconnected stories with elements from each story that interweave in one another as heart’s wave, heart’s song, heart’s breath.

"As the Flowers Bloom" by Cheryl T. Long

EXCERPT
As the Flowers Bloom
by Cheryl T. Long

As the Flowers Bloom by Cheryl T. Long

Author Cheryl T. Long stops by today to share an excerpt from As the Flowers Bloom. Also available: Bursting of the Flower.

Bursting of the Flower by Cheryl T. Long

Description
Living in a two-parent home would seem ideal, but for this little girl.
Cherish Flowers is a six-year-old child prostitute trafficked by her father, and her mother knew about it. Although severely sexually and mentally abused, she finds a way to deal with her life as it is. She takes solace in her ability to dance.
Cherish is in love with the dancing, but can she survive the daily travails of her life?
With no formal training other than her passion for dancing, Cherish has finally gotten her big break, but it might cost her everything. Unable, to put the nightmares of her past and the man that abused her out of her mind, she soon finds herself spiraling under those bright lights.
Will this flower bloom? Or will she wilt?

Excerpt
Prologue
My clammy hands were shivering hard, and for the thousandth time, I wished the spotlights weren’t on me.
How much time had elapsed? What seemed like a second, turned into an hour. It really didn’t matter, at least, not to the audience. Everyone was waiting for me to make the first move. Everyone expected me to be bold, to dance like I’ve done nearly all of the twenty-six years of my life. Look at me standing here in this white dove like outfit all dolled up. If only they knew where I started would they still want to see me dance? As I looked again, I saw myself back down in the gutter with a rope tightened around my neck. They all wanted to see the petals of the flower, but they didn’t know this flower’s story.
I’ve blocked out a lot from my childhood, but I still had those horrible flashbacks from time to time. You know those flashbacks that pull you out of your sleep in a mantic sweat. There are so many terror-filled recollections of abuse and neglect. I remember seeing my mother being kicked and strangled and being mentally abused by my father. Hell, I still carry the scars of my own abuse from him too.
A second thought formed in my head, I knew it was a mistake; I should not be thinking about my past. Not now! It’s time to dance! I screamed silently, but I could feel the memories drawing closer. I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to focus on something, anything else.
But that has never been enough to keep out the pain.

Love by Pranks by Sunniva Dee has just been released and is available for only $0.99 for a limited time. Join the release day party on 28 November for fun, games, and giveaways.

Description
There were three things I, Kitty Hoskins, didn’t know when I moved into the all-girls, non-sorority house Blossom Field Avenue #246:
1) The house opposite ours, #247, is home to the gorgeous jerks of the Iota Fraternity.
2) Lucian Spencer Anderson lives in #247 and is possibly the hottest stripper-slash-social-science student you’ll ever meet.
3) #246 (The Blossoms) and #247 (The Dudes) have the longest standing, most ruthless prank war in the history of rivalries. The only thing the two houses agree on is that they live and breathe for the next battle.
Funny then that the real challenge is the one I never saw coming: an alliance with Lucian Spencer Anderson. When a cold winter threatens the stray cats of Deepsilver, our mutual love for animals forces us to team up. Bad, right? Well, it gets worse: we’re going to need the cooperation of our two houses to pull this thing off.

Excerpt
Worms. It’s midnight in my non-sorority house, and that’s everyone’s vote. I can’t support the Blossom girls’ original wish, though: worms are animals too, and we can’t just prank people with living beings. So that’s why we’re baking. At midnight. It’s Guns’ at the Dude house’s birthday tomorrow, and we will give him a cake for his birthday.
“It’s so genius. You see that, right?” Ninni truly looks like a cartoon character right now. She’s wearing some sort of chef outfit with one of those hats, only it’s violet, offsetting her canary yellow apron.
“I don’t know. Why would they eat it if it comes from us?” I ask. “Don’t they know it’s going to be a prank?”
“That’s the beauty of it—they won’t know! You know how we have prank rules?”
“That only you guys know,” I say, “and they don’t.”
“Yep, except from the no-food-pranks rule.”
“And now we’re breaking it??”
“Exactly! Also, the celebration’s going to be crazy, they’ll have fifty million drunk people hanging out, and they’ll never see it coming.”
Great. I have trustworthy roommates.
“Which means they won’t know we’ve filled the cake with mealworms.” I lift one eyebrow.
Saki waggles both of hers. “Wait and see. Gun’s gonna find out at exactly the right time, and he’s going to shit himself!”
Seraphina tips the frozen mealworms into the flour with practiced hands. It’s as if they do this every weekend. She stirs in sugar, even adds eggs and vanilla essence. When she brings out the orange blossom oil for additional fragrance, what’s-her-name removes it, murmuring about tossing pearls for swine. Seraphina bobs out her agreement.
Frozen mealworms. Those little fuckers are nasty-looking. I have to admit, I’m not much for worms in the first place, but I don’t want them to die if I can help it. Being that these fuckers are already dead, it’s a pretty cool payback for the ladybugs.
Once upon a time, there was a horde of knights in not-exactly-shining armor coming to the rescue of a horde of ladies. Aka, the gross dead mealworms helping all the ladybugs. Who are still alive. Okay, so not helping them, but doing the revenge dance. Dead. In the Dudes’ stomachs.
Bedtime isn’t really bedtime when you have itty bitty puppies. We’re in and out of bed—some of the girls using the litter pans for their babies, while others (Saki) swears she’s going to teach hers to pee in the backyard even if it means no sleep at all. At least she’s taking it seriously.
At breakfast everyone’s sleepy, even the Blossoms without puppies.
“Blue dye for the cake glazing,” Ninni proclaims as she twines her pigtails into Leia buns over her ears.
“Not pink?” someone says in a sad tone.
“The Dudes are so stupid they think they’ll be emasculated by eating anything pink,” she replies.
“Also, it matches your outfit.”
“Which I’m not wearing tonight. I’ll wear pink,” she says, laughing.
“You’ll wear pink so the dudes don’t get tempted into flirting with you?” I ask.
“Funny enough,” Seraphina says, lifting a diamond-crusted nail in the air. “They’re all about pink when it comes to women.”
Prank wars I’ve never been a part of before. I have no brothers and only one sister, and she’s the daintiest princess you ever met, so not much experience with tricks at all. I guess it’s the clique feeling in Blossom Field Avenue #246 that I’m enjoying. Us against the Dudes.
Yep, I am liking this!

“I really really loved this book, it was like being on a crazy train going full stream ahead into Romcom heaven. It takes you on an hilarious ride, and you don't want to get off. It's funny, and witty and Sunniva's writing is comically fantastic and the characters she has created I just adored, they were so easy to love. It is a brilliant and enjoyable read which I highly recommend.” ~ Cat Wright
“She does it again... This author consistently impresses and amazes me with the characters she has running through her head. It was funny, cute, and super HOT, all of which are classic Sunniva Dee. I loved the other characters also (my favorite is Picasso) and can't wait for their stories. As far as Lucian and Kitty go, I loved their journey, chuckled throughout and the background plots really kept me turning the pages. I'm really satisfied with their ending and I hope we get to revisit them in future books, especially if there are drunk conversations involved.” ~ joskypay

Cannot wait to read more.” ~ Garden girl

About the Author
Sunniva Dee
I'm a lover of everything beautifully written no matter the genre.
As an author, I pen flawed characters. I seek the flip side where the soul hides, and once there, I want to be pulled out of my comfort zone by stories that take on a life of their own.
I've committed paranormal and young adult books. I've done contemporary romance verging on erotica, and I've dabbled in supernatural mystery. But my heart is anchored in new adult of the true kind: unapologetic young adult that's all grown up, with conflicts and passions familiar to college-aged readers and people who remember those days like they happened last night.

Excerpt
“What would possess Joe Nelson to give the Christmas solo to a woman who sings like a washing machine full of rocks?” Aunt Maggie’s voice echoed in the community center gym, the location hosting many of the neighborhood churches for the Christmas Eve service. Her attitude was in direct contrast to Rudolph’s blinking nose on her fire engine red Christmas sweatshirt.
“Ooh. You better watch out,” Danny whispered in my ear. “When Mama says words like that, it’s best to look busy.” I had just picked up Danny from the Christmas party for people with disabilities held at his adult care center. Today he seemed especially happy for some reason. And from the way he kept giggling, I could tell Danny had a secret he was bursting to tell me.
“Joe!” Aunt Maggie called out.
The choir director, who was busily engaged in a conversation with Enid Sanford—solo-stealer and owner of the voice that sounded like a washing machine full of rocks—didn’t respond.
“Joe!” she bellowed.
When he failed to respond a second time, she stomped back, turned him around by the shoulders, and plopped her slender black music folder into his hands.
“Take it. I can’t sing in a choir where my voice isn’t heard.”
I had to admit, Maggie was one of the better singers in the holiday choir. Some of the other vocalists possessed lesser talent. One time when I was watching Joe’s friend Howard Gunther at the soundboard, I noticed he was turning down certain microphones. It was wonderful these people volunteered, but some of the singers could be described as cats screeching in the night. Enid Sanford was one of those people; when she hit the high C, it could make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
Leaving an astonished Joe, Maggie returned to us. “Well, that’s it. You’re hearing it right here and now. I am quitting the Pecan Bayou Singers. They can jingle their bells with somebody else.”
Lester Jibbets, a tall wiry man with protruding cheekbones and the owner of the most successful port-a-potty business in Central Texas, walked over waving a bony hand. “I totally agree, Maggie. What happened here is nothing short of criminal. It will ruin the Christmas Eve performance, uh huh.” He nodded his head to reinforce his point.
“Thanks, Lester,” Maggie said, about to continue her tirade, but Lester just kept talking.
“Yes, sir, I knew right away I needed to come over and help a beautiful lady in trouble, I did.” More nods.
“Thank you, Lester,” Maggie repeated, but this time she waited. Lester Jibbets was not an easy man to shut up once he got started. I guess the portable bathroom business is pretty lonely, even if you’re at the top of your game.

Can You Write a Mystery?
How many times have you read a mystery and said to yourself, I could have written that! All I need is an amateur sleuth, a killer, and some other characters. Easy Peasy. It might be a different story when you sit down and try to actually put pen to paper.
Welcome to the great blank wall of storytelling.
You can write a page, but thousands of words? Maybe not so simple.
So, here's my oversimplified method to help you get past the wall.
Make a list.
What is the crime?
It is best to start with this because your entire story is going to center around it. You can find some great ideas just reading your newspaper. or you can make something up yourself. Make sure it will be interesting to your readers.
Who are your characters?
Is this a cozy mystery or more of a thriller? A cozy mystery hero or heroine has to be beyond reproach. They can investigate, but they can't break any rules doing it. The main character in a thriller can feel free to break the rules. It just depends on the kind of character you have built.
Who are the other characters and or subplot that you can weave in with the crime-solving plot?
Supporting characters can help create subplots. These subplots become problems that will affect your main character, and they need an abundance of problems.
When you have all of this together, start making an outline. Then keep taking your outline to the next level until you can come up with a scene list.
Read other books in your genre and outline them. I started out outlining Agatha Christie and was amazed how every character had a secret. I'm no Agatha, but I learned so much from her!
In Oh Holy Fright, I started with a crime story. (spoiler alert) I read about a mailman in Italy who died, and they found tons of mail in his garage. From there the characters, subplots and mystery progressed.
As I said before, this is oversimplified, but it gives you an idea of how to get started writing your mystery. Good luck!
