Praise for the Book
"Such a cute book with a great life lesson! Love the music theme for this one. Your kids will love to sing along with the fun beat!" ~ Joshua J. Strain
"I would recommend this book for any young child who enjoys a good story and singing! There are several lines of a blues song they made up, the kids can kind of sing along." ~ seasons of grace
"The illustrations in the books are bright, colorful and simple enough for children to recognize features. My son enjoyed pointing out the cats, bus, and toys to me as we looked through. Overall, a fun book that gives children the tools to recognize and deal with their emotions." ~ Stephanie
"Alycat and the Monday Blues is not only a cute book with bright and adorable pictures but it also teaches children that we all have talent. It's a good book to help children learn about self worth." ~ Dawn

My Review
I received this book in return for an honest review.

By Lynda Dickson
Alycat wakes up on Monday morning and doesn't want to go to school. She's got the Monday Blues because she doesn't have any talent to present at Tuesday's talent show. Luckily, Aly discovers her hidden talent with the help of her best friend Spotty and a bit of encouragement from her family.
This book is suitable for children ages 3 to 8. The cute illustrations by Chiara Civati bring the characters to life. This story can be used as a tool to help children problem-solve and come up with solutions. They'll find that, with the support of family and friends, and a belief in their abilities, they can accomplish anything they put their mind to.

What I Hope to Achieve with Alycat and the Monday Blues
Alycat and the Monday Blues is the second book of the Alycat series which is a week-based children’s picture book series. Alycat wakes up on a Monday morning with the Monday blues and is certain that her day will not get any better. She can’t find her shoes, she has no milk, and she doesn’t have a talent for the talent show that week.
But when she a mishap at school sends her astray, she discovers that helping a friend in need helps her discover her own hidden talent - curing her Monday Blues.
By reading this book, I want young children to use it as a tool to help them creatively solve their own problems and turn their blue day into a new day. I want kids who may be having a bad day to sit down with Monday Blues and utilize skills from the book to learn how to cope with a tough situation. As a child, I remember being able to turn my day around with a captivating book, discovering something new to take my mind off the problem, or by making others smile that led to me smiling. Turning a bad situation around can be hard for some people. The grief can swallow you up and it’s hard to see the light. We must teach our children the skills at a very young age to maintain positivity, self-worth, and hope. They will come across situations that will sway them in this world - everywhere they turn. Knowing how to improve their troubles and having the courage to change their predicament gives them the ability to conquer anything.
