Excerpt
Is it possible to really live life? Is it possible to change course mid-career? Is it possible to spend more time doing the things you love without becoming a penniless Bohemian? I’ll show you how you can. I’ll show you how you can live life again, how you can use the DREAM process to realize your dreams, and how you can get everything out of your life.
Time trading is the nouveau way to live in the millennium. Shed the old school of nine to five and the deferred life. Embrace life breaks and start living life to the fullest. You don’t need to be chained to an unforgiving life riding the treadmill with someone else setting the speed. You can reframe your perceptions of success, liberate yourself from the daily grind, escape the workplace, and integrate key relationships into your life.
Be a time trader. What, you ask is a time trader? You’re no doubt familiar with a day trader—a person who stands by monitoring the markets and leveraging the daily volatility to make quick short-term profits. A time trader is a person who becomes a master at pulling the levers of life to dream and trade themselves to a more rewarding life, one full of experiences and relationships and no regrets.
Here’s a primer for changing your life. These elements will be discussed more fully in later chapters, but let’s just see what the levers of life are:
Time: We only have so much time available to live. The key is to find the right balance in life.
Flexibility: Reframing your life will allow you to become more flexible in attaining your dreams.
Money: We need to diversify our income sources and establish, where possible, automated sources of cash. We also need to change our lens from working to owning.
By pulling these levers you can use the DREAM process to realize your dreams.
D: develop awareness of your dream.
R: realize understanding of the dream.
E: express knowledge of the dream by developing a plan.
A: assist belief by seeking opportunities to live your goal.
M: make realizable by readjusting where necessary to stay on track.
Time trading is a formula for living life your way, a way to have everything you want. Time trading is using the levers of life to give you the power to realize your dreams. It allows you to have what every human being wants—time to live life, real time to live, not a nine to five straightjacket, but time.
To live life as you want, you need to see life as it is. Understand it, learn from it, then change it! Time trading will tell you how.

Review
If you could enjoy your life based on your perception of time, value and money, would you? If you could quit your job, bid a fond farewell to your boss and travel the world while effortlessly generating multiple streams of income, would you start packing now? If you said yes, then you are ready to read The Time Trading Guru by Robert Renaud. If you are working 40 hours and slavishly waiting for retirement, Renaud says you have an old school mindset. For the last 20+ years, he has mastered the art of trading time or diversifying income to lessen the gravity of economic changes. Time trading helps you leverage life breaks and determine how you will spend your time whether it is for one day or 10 years. Luxury is defined by perception.
Renaud is an executive, creator of The Bureaucrats comic strip, entrepreneur, world traveler and a father. I was swept away by his exotic travels. The conversations with Jack (a talented but misguided executive who was relying on his corporate job to provide for his financial future) helped convey his message. The chapter about money was so comprehensive and detailed that it compelled me to reconsider my notion of income. This book offers tips and eye-opening discoveries about the mundane things (emails and multitasking) that erode our time.
The Time Trading Guru is for those fearless souls who want to live life on their own terms.

Interview With the Author
Hi Robert, thanks for joining me today to discuss your new book, The Time Trading Guru.
Who do you recommend should read your book?
Everyone who works or doesn't, students, and the self-employed. Anyone who is looking to gain time back in their lives and who want a practical blueprint to become more fulfilled.
What sparked the idea for this book?
My life, really. I've experienced richness, lived poor, and in all persevered by changing my perceptions of life. I realized I had been following a blueprint to a more fulsome life. I was using the levers of life: time, flexibility, and money and the DREAM process to take life breaks to reach my potentiality.
What was the hardest part to write in this book?
To get started. This was a several years of procrastination that finally bloomed.
How do you hope this book affects its readers?
I hope people learn that there is indeed a blueprint to living life more fully. We all have the power within us. It's using the levers of life: time, flexibility, and money to take life breaks and to begin living today.
How long did it take you to write this book?
Several months. This time was harvested between my kids activities and just waiting.
What is your writing routine?
There is no routine, per se. I always carry a work book with me and I jot down ideas when they come to me.
What advice do you have for someone who would like to become a published writer?
Just write, the rest will works its way out.
What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I like to draw, I’m a cartoonist as well.
Please tell us a bit about your childhood.
It was challenging. I lived with middle class values with a poor family pay check and experienced many of the social ills first hand. Despite these challenges, I was able to change my perspectives of life and reach many rewarding goals.
Who was your favorite author as a child?
Funny enough, Dr. Seuss.
Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
I hear from my readers quite a lot. Like me, they are looking for value and meaning in their lives. They appreciate the blueprint that The Time Trading Guru provides them and share with me their stories of enlightenment.
What can we look forward to from you in the future?
The Time Trading Guru lays a foundation of ideas and my readers can expect many of these ideas to flourish in a book on their own.
Thanks so much for taking the taking the time to talk to me today, Richard. I wish you every success.
