Description
In the small, lakeside town of Huntington, the Firelight Festival marks the end of summer. A time to laugh, to live, to love. And for Jackson Grant, it is a chance to begin again.
But there is a darker side to the Firelight Festival, a deadly tradition known as the Firelight Fall. A secret game. A legendary lie. A test of bravery. Those who fall risk everything, and Jackson is on the edge. Until he meets a girl who pushes him over.
For Jackson, falling for Sarah Blake might be as dangerous as jumping in the Firelight Fall. As summer burns away, Jackson and Sarah ignite an unstoppable love game. For her, his heart is on fire. And soon, Sarah shows him life, saves him from loss, and opens his heart to an infinite and wild love found between the stars and sky.

Praise for the Book
"Breath-takingly lyrical, heart-breakingly real, Between the Stars and Sky left me wanting only one thing: more. I still want more time with these characters, more time in this world. I'll be thinking about this one for a long time to come." ~ Joy N. Hensley, author of Rites of Passage
"With beautiful, poetic writing and a totally unique premise, Between the Stars and Sky is like nothing I have read before. I am in awe of David James." ~ Nyrae Dawn, bestselling author of Charade

From the Author
I'm so excited for Between the Stars and Sky to finally be released. This book is ... different for me.
First, it's a contemporary story. It's real. It could happen. Writing something like that was so different for me I wasn't sure if I could do it. But then I found these characters, and in Jackson and Sarah I found a place where I loved to write.
Second, this story. THIS STORY. I didn't think I would get through it. It's one of those stories that is so big and so small and so delicate and so IN YOUR FACE lovely and scary and sad and happy that I wasn't sure I could make it through this book alive.
But again, THESE CHARACTERS. I love them. And I love this story. It's a minimalistic story, so there is very little filler. Just words that mean something. To Jackson, the main character, this is important. I took what was important to the characters and reflected that in the way I told the story.
This isn't a long story, but it is a big one. Complete with a crazy, scary dare, a secret game. A test of bravery. A love story. Kisses. Betrayals. First loves. Second loves. Diverse loves. All kinds of loves. Life and death. Fear and not.
And in the end, I'm not sure if this story wrote me, or I wrote it. I guess you'll find out. :)

Excerpt
Slowly, I peel my eyes from hers so I can see the rest of her. Her hair is longer, barely past her shoulders. The sheer black tresses frame her bronzed, heart-shaped face. I brush my thumbs across her defined cheekbones. Her eyelids flutter closed until my thumbs stop moving.
Her fingers slide along my waist, resting on my back, and a small smile plays on her lips.
Having her here in my arms makes all those dreams feel like a distant memory. The dreams where she was always out of my reach, yet here she is, in my grasp. With skin as soft as an angel’s song, embrace as warm as the summer sun, and scent as potent as a botanical garden.
She’s mine.
mate
Lowering my face to hers, I take in her scent and revel in the closeness that I’m finally allowed. Her sweet breath fans over my mouth, and I lose control for a second.
I crash my lips to her soft, supple mouth. Her hands press against my back, pulling me closer to her.
Regaining my composure, I take a breath through my nose and ease the pressure against her lips. I refuse to lose contact, so I slide a hand behind her neck, holding her in place.
This is home.
Right here with her.

Featured Review
Soul Promise is the second book in the Soul Mate series. It can be read as a standalone but best if read after the first book, True Connection.
Henry just discover his wolf. He's a halfling, an abomination to some. He struggles to keep himself sane and deal with the odd threats whispered in his head. He's being targeted and worse yet he doesn't know how to protect himself or anyone he cares about. Delilah and Henry have feelings for each other but are too afraid to do anything about it. Neither one knows if they are each other's mate or not. Will they be or will their connection dissolve? With threats looming over their heads no one is safe and lives will be lost as new friends are gained. Who will be left standing in the end?
So much better than the first! I really enjoyed this installment. I could feel Henry's emotions and struggles leap off the page like they were my own. I was pulled in with the action and threats that loomed over him. I enjoyed the addition of new characters and creatures as well as seeing the familiar faces. Delilah was a strong character that packed enough punch to keep Henry on his feet. Things did sometimes happen too quickly and were easy going but overall the story was great. I can't wait to read some of the other characters. I would like to see Tristan's book. I recommend this for any YA paranormal romance fan who enjoys love stories about soulmates and a love at first sight connection.
