Excerpts

Praise for the Book
"Rachel's Day In The Garden was a joyful book laced with spring flowers, butterflies, and a beautiful atmosphere. [...] If readers are unfamiliar with yoga, they can easily figure it out with the picture pose on each page. This is the second story I've reviewed from Giselle Shardlow. She is a great author and I look forward to reading more from her." ~ Heart of a Philanthropist "Kim"
"Such a fun concept! Rachel’s Day in the Garden teaches colors and yoga through a little girl’s exploration of a garden with her dog." ~ Carolyn Clarke
"This was a great book for kids ages 3-8. Both my children (ages 5 and 7) loved this book and wanted to read it over and over. The book is highly interactive to allow the kids to test out the different poses, easily depicting them as the story goes along. The images are vivid and easy to translate. My kids cannot wait for more from this author!" ~ Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock
"Rachel's Day in the Garden is short and sweet, a perfect length to keep the attention of young children. Parents can read the story along with their child, gradually switching roles as they practice yoga." ~ Kevin Gerard
"This book has really opened the door for us to be more active as a family. I have found that the more active we are together, the better we work together and the less fits are thrown. I love the tools that this book has given me to be a better mother to my children. So thanks Giselle. I didn't know books like this existed, but you've opened my eyes to a new genre of fun books I can't wait to get my hands on and share with my eager children. :)" ~ Beth Ann

My Review

By Lynda Dickson
Join Rachel as she plays in her garden with her dog, Sammy, on a typical spring day. You will learns about the different colors as they relate to nature. Rachel also demonstrates ten yoga poses, each with a corresponding keyword in the text (e.g., sun, rain, tree, etc.). The poses are summarized at the end of the book. There is also a Parent-Teacher Guide to help you get the most out of sharing this story with young children.
The collage-like illustrations by Hazel Quintanilla are absolutely breathtaking. You'll have to go back over the book just to admire them. This is a beautiful and educational book, perfect for spending a bit of quality time with the little ones and to encourage them to get active.

My Review

By Lynda Dickson
Patches is a caterpillar sporting all the colors of the rainbow. Follow along as she tries to decide which shoes she should wear and what she should do today. And find out why caterpillars have so many feet!
The illustrations by Ewa Podles are bright and colorful and full of texture. Unfortunately, the rhyming text doesn't flow very well, and there are a couple of editing errors. Nevertheless, this is a cute book that can help your child learn about colors. The story is followed by interesting caterpillar facts.

About the Author
Angela was born in California to a military family. This meant that she got used to being the "new kid" in school every couple of years. It was hard trying to make new friends, but Angela discovered she had a knack for writing. In high school Angela began writing poetry and song lyrics. Expressing herself through writing seemed very natural. After becoming a Mom in 2003, Angela continued her storytelling to her own children. In 2009 she wrote and published her first children's book aimed at toddlers. Since then she has released several more children's picture books and released her first young adult romance series, The Alpha Girls, in 2012.
Angela's husband, Ben Muse, writes suspense/thriller books that can also be found on Amazon.

"When Violet Was Blue" by Deb Troehler

REVIEW
When Violet Was Blue
by Deb Troehler

When Violet Was Blue is a children's picture book recommended for children ages 3 to 6. This review opportunity is brought to you by Mother Daughter Book Promotion Services.

Description
Little Violet has a problem. She knows that she needs the help of others, but simply cannot figure out how her friends can help her solve this problem. With assistance from an unlikely source, Violet and her rainbow friends find a way to brighten the day for everyone.
Told in rhyme, When Violet Was Blue is a bouncy tale that children from 3 to 6-years-old will ask to hear over and over again.

Praise for the Book
"What a fun book to teach children the importance of team work! When Violet was Blue is also a great book to help children learn their colors. The author included some facts about rainbows, along with some other wonderful activities for children, after the story. I would highly recommend When Violet Was Blue!" ~ 5 Star Review, Dana L., Amazon
"Deb Troehler’s children’s book, When Violet Was Blue, will have children and adults alike smiling as they read of Violet and her friends’ efforts to reach Cloud and scatter him. Troehler also illustrated this book and her illustrations, especially her grumpy Cloud, are just marvelous. Parents will appreciate the simple and beautiful way Troehler explains how rainbows are made and how working together can help get lots of seemingly impossible things accomplished. They’ll also love the science facts, projects, and math games that are included in the back of the book. When Violet Was Blue is fun, enlightening, and educational, and best of all, it does make one smile while reading it." ~ 5 Star Jack Magnus, Readers’ Favorite

My Review

By Lynda Dickson
When a big cloud blocks the sun's rays, Violet starts to feel "blue". She enlists the help of her colorful friends in an effort to get the sun to shine again. But who will come up with the best solution?
This delightful rhyming picture book teaches us that by working together we can achieve our goals. The story itself is followed by fun activities and information on how a rainbow is actually formed. The kids will want to read this one again and again.

About the Author
Deb Troehler has worn many hats over the years - teacher, fabric artist, author, illustrator, gardener, mother, and grandmother. Although each hat is unique, they are all stitched with a common thread - Deb’s connections to her loved ones and the world around her.
Mrs. Troehler was a special education teacher for 15 years. After leaving the classroom due to a recurrence of cancer, her family moved to West Michigan to spend time with her husband’s family. To help make ends meet, Deb wrote instructional material and stories for several trade magazines such as Doll Crafter, Doll Reader, and Soft Dolls and Animals. Eventually, the magic of West Michigan motivated Deb to put pen to paper and record the stories inspired by her treks up and down the shores of Lake Michigan. When Violet Was Blue is Deb’s third book for children.
