Description
Alex Gardener has her life planned out, down to the smallest detail. She has a skyrocketing career as a litigation attorney, a close group of socialite friends, and is engaged to one of the most successful businessmen in Beverly Hills. Everything is just as she wants it: comfortable, predictable, secure … if lacking passion. Fire.
Cory Bishop is a struggling working man, trying to make ends meet while fighting to keep custody his young daughter. He knows that working hard is the only way to achieve his goals, but lately it seems everything he wants hangs just out of reach.
The bank robbery changes everything.
Alex and Cory spend three harrowing days as hostages locked in a bank with fifty frightened people and six criminals who grow more desperate - and dangerous - by the hour. Alex and Cory find comfort and safety with each other and reveal their deepest hopes and fears and secrets, unknowingly building a bond forged out of desperation and fear, one that they can’t break, even once outside the bank’s walls.
Their lives are turned upside down, irrevocably altered, and they seek to move on and put the robbery - and each other - behind them.
But some bonds, once forged, cannot be broken.
Note: Adult content. Suitable only for readers eighteen and older. This book is the second in the City Lights series but can be read as a standalone.

Excerpt
My engagement ring was in the pocket of my short blazer. I put my hand inside and twisted it around and around. It felt heavy. It felt like nothing. A trinket. What are you doing? What are you thinking?
I didn’t let myself think. I got to my feet and slipped quietly over the legs of my fellow sleeping captives and tapped gently at the door.
Wolfman cracked it. “What now?” He carried a huge automatic weapon that he frequently brandished to get compliance, but he had kind eyes. I sucked in a breath and took a chance.
“Where is he?”
“Ah, Christ, lady…”
“I want to see him. I want to make sure he’s okay.”
“I already told you. He’s fine. Now sit down and shut up.”
“Please.” I continued to not think and pulled my engagement ring from my pocket. It glinted brightly even in the meager light.
Wolfman’s eyes widened. “How did you manage to keep it?”
“It doesn’t matter. It’s yours. Just let me see him.”
Wolfman snorted. “It’s mine if I want it.” He rubbed his chin, staring at the ring, then snatched it out of my hand. “Come on.”
I gasped as it disappeared into his pocket. What have I done? The diamond was too big, too ostentatious, too much compensation for so much that was missing between Drew and me. But it came from him. A symbol of our pledge to spend our lives together and I had given it away for…what?
I have to see that Cory’s okay with my own eyes. I have to.
Wolfman walked down the darkened hallway and I hurried to catch up.
After several turns, we arrived at a door, its placard stating the office belonged to the assistant bank manager. Wolfman stopped and slipped a key in the lock.
“Ten minutes,” he said. “And then I bust the door in.”
“Ten minutes,” I said, over the pounding of my heart. “Thanks. Thank you.” I went in.
It took a few moments for my eyes to adjust to the dimness. The office was windowless and small: a desk, a chair, and not much else. Movement to my left caught my eye. Cory had been sitting against the wall but scrambled to his feet when I came in.
“Alex?”
“Are you okay?” He looked okay. The cut above his eye was a dark gash in the dimness but otherwise he looked unhurt. He looked beautiful. Alive.
“I’m fine.” He took a step toward me. “Why are you here?”
“I had to see you. To make sure you were safe.” My eyes met his in the dark. I swallowed hard, and whispered, “We have ten minutes.”
In two long strides, he was there, hauling me to him and crushing his mouth to mine. A knee-weakening thrill shot down my spine, one I hadn’t felt in months. Years, even. The first sensations coursed through me, burned through me, like a spark racing along a fuse. Somewhere, guilt and shame tugged at the corners of my mind, but they faded to nothing under the onslaught of the desire that consumed me.
This…this is fire.

Praise for the Book
"I loved this book! To all the ladies out there who love a romance with a hot guy and really good story, this is the next one to read! It made being sick in bed tolerable. The writing was really well done. It had a great story, which definitely kept my interest. [...] There were many characters in this book, all well developed; some I loved and some not so much.[...] I will definitely be reading more from this author." ~ CES
What a serendipitous find this story is! [...] The sex and sensuality scenes between Cory and Alex are smoking hot, yet it is the caring devotion between these two that the reader will become engrossed with. All the sub-plots were nicely bundled up wonderfully by the end of the story, and I felt completely contented. I would highly recommend this book to a friend." ~ Charlotte anderson
"Emma Scott is back again and better than ever with this second book in her City Lights romance series. I read and reviewed her first book, Love Beyond Words, which is the reason I decided to give this one a try as well despite my general distaste for the genre. This book is even stronger than the first. The characters ring very true, the plot is compelling, and the romance is addictive and sometimes seriously steamy. Above all, the writing is top notch. I had the good fortune of obtaining an advance copy of Unbreakable and I devoured it in a weekend, then I licked my lips and wished for more. If you are a romance fan, or even if you are not, this is a must read." ~ Rattus Rattus
"This author can write the heck out of a love scene, and make each one unique! That is a skill in itself. She provided ample details without being too graphic, which I appreciated. Each one was written beautifully. There was a perfect sprinkle of drama, romance, mystery, real-life parallels, and danger to make this a solid FIVE for me! I absolutely enjoyed every minute of this book and was quite impressed with the ending - some of which, I did not see coming! I look forward to reading more from this author." ~ Traci Sanders

Awareness took hold of me and squeezed. This guy was special. He masked the empty sensation I carried with me wherever I went. He made me forget.
He sighed, thereby breaking the hypnotic trance I was under, and with a cheeky smile, patted me on my shoulder. “You’re welcome,” he said, stepping inside the door of the nearest classroom and giving me a generous view of his gorgeous backside.
Oh.
My.
Gravy.
“Excuse me?” I called out, confused, and if I was being honest, a bit dazed by his extraordinary good looks. “What exactly am I supposed to be thanking you for?”
He hooked a thumb over his shoulder and grinned. “I got you to your first class.”
The late bell rang, a long, obnoxious sound that grated against my already frazzled nerves.
He gave a small chuckle and tapped the chipped metal threshold leading into the classroom. “Looks like you’re late.”
I scrunched up my nose, flashed him a cheeky smile, and flipped him the bird.

Wow where do I start? This book was fantastic!! The writing was so amazing!! I caught myself really feeling what the characters were "feeling". When they smiled I smiled, when they cried I teared up, and when things got romantic I caught myself feeling all warm and gooey inside!! It takes a lot for me to feel so many emotions from one book, but this one made me have them all!! The main characters were so raw and different than any others that I've read about before. This book is the best read, but it also has such an amazing message behind it. I would recommend this to teens and young adults, because we all can learn from or have experienced similar scenarios that the characters went through. I CAN NOT wait for the second book in this series to come out so I can order it on the release date!! Elisa Dane is utterly amazing!!

Perception is everything to sixteen-year-old Olivia Brown. With her freakishly hot boyfriend, volunteer work at the local animal shelter, successful beauty channel on YouTube, and well-earned spot on X-Factor Cheer's elite level five Diamond Girl team, Livvie's the girl every other girl wants to be. At least, that's the illusion she's aiming for.
But Livvie's seemingly perfect life is anything but. Lying about the bruises her boyfriend gives her, and cowering beneath his raging temper becomes a regular way of life until she unwittingly witnesses her drunken neighbor beating his step-son, the town bad boy, Reid Tate.
For Reid, vulnerability is the enemy. Opening up, and letting people in gives them the power to disappoint. Growing up with a co-dependent mother and an abusive alcoholic father, Reid has endured all the disappointment he can stomach.
But when his pretty, do-good neighbor witnesses his step-dad beat him to within an inch of his life, and not only call the cops, but keeps quiet at school about what she saw, Reid wonders if maybe, just maybe, he's found someone he can finally trust.

Elisa Dane delivers another great story with a valuable message in Unbreakable. Here we see overachiever Livvie in a relationship with a boy revered by his peers and teachers, and yet something makes her wary. Is this good looking all American student everything he seems? What about the always in trouble boy next door with the terrible reputation? Is he as dangerous as everyone says? Livvie's instincts tell her one thing while conventional group-think tells her another.
Livvie's journey toward finding the truth should give all of us pause, considering which people in our lives are truly safe and worthy of our trust. Elisa Dane's writing puts you right with Livvie, having fun with friends, dealing with fear and drama and taking big steps toward growing up. A great read!
